Hi, my name is Harry and I’m addicted to Manga. Ever since my parents gave me the fourth volume of Detective Conan (also known as Case Closed) for my seventh birthday, I’ve been hooked
I am an avid consumer of entertainment media as a whole. I read books, I watch movies, and I listen to music. But my favorite entertainment and storytelling medium, by far, is comic books.
And amongst the whole spectrum of comics, the one that I consumed the most is Manga. The black and white sequence storytelling medium from Japan.
When it comes to Manga, I don’t discriminate, I read everything that I could get. From the literature of Manga such as Monster by Naoki Urasawa to the mindfuck story such as Metamorphosis by ShindoL.
Lo and behold, more than two decades later, I’ve become some sort of a self-proclaimed Manga connoisseur, if you will.
My friends, family, and colleagues start to ask me for Manga recommendations. I began to scour the internet to find new titles to read. And I began to have thoughts and opinions on what I just read.
And that’s why I decided to create Manga Digest. This blog is the place where I could pour my thoughts on Manga. The place where I could write about things that I know and notice during my decades of reading the medium.
About Manga Digest
As you can probably realize by now, the term “digest” is borrowed from the famous magazine “Reader’s digest“. The original intended use of the term is to describe nutritious information served in a bite-size format
And that’s what I want to do with this website, hence the name Manga Digest.
I want to share what I know, what I feel, and my thoughts on the medium that I love the most. I want to talk about the disappointing ending of Prison School, the cliché in every shonen manga, the power dynamic in Akira, and all other manga-related fun stuff.
You will also find some sort of manga reading guides in this blog. Such as things you need to know before reading certain titles, the best story arcs of a long-running manga, what other similar Manga to read if you like a particular title, etc.
I will try my best to make contents that you could enjoy before, during, and after you finished reading some titles. What I want the most is to spread the love of Manga to as many people as possible.
If I could help one other person to decide to pick on certain titles after reading my articles about it, then my mission has been accomplished.
I hope you guys would find this blog helpful or at least entertaining.
P.S.: You can also read my other works in Honey’s Anime.
